The Baptists Are Building

Schools are not the only thing being constructed in San Marcos. If you will go South on Hunter Road and take a right at McCarty Lane, drive to the big blue water tower, then look to your left, you will see the entrance to the new First Baptist Church, currently under construction. At this point the steel work is 75% complete. The anticipated date of occupancy is February or March of 2007.

Rev. Mark Newton, Senior Pastor of FBC, never hestitates to show his enthusiasm for this project, which was handed him when he accepted the call to be the pastor First Baptist Church. He and his staff are busy making plans for the forthcoming transition into new quarters.

The new facility is Phase I of what will become a large regional church in the San Marcos area. In the meantime, FBC is meeting in the San Marcos Baptist Academy facilities on Ranch Road 12.

The new FBC will be a landmark for the San Marcos area, situated on the second hill of their 70 acre church campus, and visible from I-35.

This 7.5 million dollar facility will provide educational, administrative and worship space for this 149 year old established church in San Marcos.

It is rewarding to witness a dream come into being after ten years of discussion and planning, and thanks go to all those who have had a part in this vast undertaking.
