Celebrating our Present and Future

On October 25, 1857, eight Baptists met in a log building, which doubled as a courthouse and school, in the settlement of San Marcos. The site of the old cabin is marked as a Texas Historical Marker not far from the west mouth of the river on Moon Street. The original church was called San Marcos River Baptist Church but was chartered as San Marcos Baptist Church. It was located where the old Austin Highway crossed the San Marcos River. The church later became known as the First Baptist Church of San Marcos.

It is my privilege to serve as the 37th pastor of First Baptist Church in San Marcos. This year, God is moving in our midst in tremendous ways. For example, our worship is awesome and inspiring. Believers are being discipled and growing in Christ. Prayers are being answered. Missions and ministry continue to be in the forefront of all we do. The fellowship and oneness at First Baptist Church has, perhaps, never been sweeter. I thank God for our unity even as we celebrate our diversity.
