FBC has a long history of working with and ministering to orphans all over the world. We partner with specialists in Kazakhstan, Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, Haiti and many more. In 2018, we came to the realization that the majority of our mission partners are working in areas of orphan care. Orphan care has had a prominent place in our hearts as evidenced through our global involvement. We have learned a lot about the child who is “fatherless” and/or abandoned. We are seeking to bring that developed passion to home in Hays County.
While on the international field, orphan care roots itself in orphanages and community homes, here in our neighborhood it is reflected in the foster home, adoption families, and restoration or rehabilitation of the biological family. We are seeking to equip our church and community to meet needs in those areas.
Some of our very own church families have been foster families and/or adopted families. We desire to equip and support the family as a whole, and to shed light on the needs and concerns of Hays County Orphan Care. Orphan Care Resources
We provide orphan care resources to equip and support families and ministries as they care for vulnerable children with the love, compassion, and hope of Christ.
Based on the need and interest, FBC will host educational and training meetings for various aspects of orphan ministry and licensing. Watch our events and follow us on Facebook so you do not miss these events when they come up.
We want to be a church that supports the biological family or the foster/adopted family. Let us know how we might support or equip you. Below are two surveys that communicate with us as a church, how we might serve you. If you are a foster/adopted family, please complete the survey so we know more about you. If you are not called to foster or adopt, but you want to support those families, please complete the “Orphan Care Survey” so we know how to plug you in or equip you.

Other Community Care Ministries
Our other community care ministries seek to meet practical needs, offer encouragement, and extend Christ’s love to individuals and families throughout our community.
GriefShare is a grief recovery support group where you can find help and healing for the hurt of losing a loved one. It is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. Throughout the Fall and Spring semester, a GriefShare group meets at FBC on Mondays from 7:00-9:00pm. Our leadership is trained thoroughly to counseling you through the GriefShare program.
Cancer Care is a support group here at FBC that understands what you are going through after a cancer diagnosis. They meet the second Wednesday of the month for lunch and fellowship. This community walks alongside you through the difficult times by making hospital visits, helping with doctor appointments, taking meals to homes, writing letters or making phone calls, and much more. These are people who understand what you are going through. Don’t do it alone.
Veterans Patrol is a group that will “have your back.” Their mission is to stand together in faith to support each other for inner peace. This group meets on the 4th Monday of the month at 7pm at First Baptist Church. Their core values is for diversity and inclusion. The group is for all veterans of all branches, ranks, genders, races, ethnics, and ages. Veterans Patrol is also about choosing peace and life, and to maintain assurance and respect for each other.
